Germany

Germany has been hosting the G7 Summit. It has held the G7 Presidency since January 2022. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz has invited the heads of state and government to Schloss Elmau in Upper Bavaria. Find out more about the work of the Federal Government here.

France

France and Germany launched the World Economic Summit in 1975. It later became the G7. The first meeting took place near Paris. The French President is Emmanuel Macron. Find out more about France here.

UK

The UK has belonged to the group of leading economic nations since 1975. The country has hosted numerous summits, most recently in Carbis Bay in Cornwall in 2021. The Prime Minister is Rishi Sunak. See here for more information about the UK.

Italy

Japan

Canada

USA

The United States participated in the first World Economic Summit in 1975, which later developed into the G7. The President is Joe Biden. See here for more information about the USA.

EU

The EU has been a member of the G7 since 1981 and has participated at a high level in G7 meetings ever since. The President of the European Commission is Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council is Charles Michel. For further details, see the EU website.
