The Federal Minister of Justice, Dr. Marco Buschmann, will host and lead the work process of the G7 Justice Ministers until 31 December 2022.

Under the German G7 Presidency, he invited his counterparts from the G7 states to a meeting in Berlin on 28 and 29 November 2022.

In view of the dramatic events in Ukraine, the focus of the meeting will be to discuss ways to coordinate investigation of core crimes under international criminal law even more effectively. The colossal dimensions of the wrongs committed and the constantly growing demands in connection with investigating war crimes means prompt coordination between the justice ministries is urgently necessary. The perpetrators must be brought to justice. This is why the Justice Ministers are meeting in this format for the first time.

In addition to the corresponding representatives of the G7 states, the EU Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, the Ukrainian Justice Minister, Denys Maliuska, and the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Ahmad Khan, were also invited to the meeting.
