G7 Meetings of the G7 media ministers

The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Claudia Roth, will host and lead the work process of the G7 media ministers until 31 December 2022.

Under the German G7 Presidency, the ministers of culture and media will meet in Bonn on 20/ 21 June 2022.

The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Claudia Roth, will host and lead the work process of the G7 media ministers until 31 December 2022.

Here, G7 media ministers will discuss current issues and challenges in the area of culture and media policy.

Germany is pursuing the following work priorities under the so-called “G7 Media Track”:

  • Commitment to freedom of the press and curbing disinformation
  • Strengthening media diversity and safeguarding freedom of expression in the age of platform economies
  • in Protecting journalists and improving their working conditions

In addition to these, the media ministers will also continue to pursue items from the previous G7 agenda. These include strengthening human rights and democracies, promoting social cohesion and combating hate and incitement.
