The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Claudia Roth, will host and lead the work process of the G7 media ministers until 31 December 2022.
Here, G7 media ministers will discuss current issues and challenges in the area of culture and media policy.
Germany is pursuing the following work priorities under the so-called “G7 Media Track”:
- Commitment to freedom of the press and curbing disinformation
- Strengthening media diversity and safeguarding freedom of expression in the age of platform economies
- in Protecting journalists and improving their working conditions
In addition to these, the media ministers will also continue to pursue items from the previous G7 agenda. These include strengthening human rights and democracies, promoting social cohesion and combating hate and incitement.
Under the German G7 Presidency, the media ministers met in Bonn on 19 June 2022.
