The Federal Minister of the Interior, Nancy Faeser, will host and lead the work process of the G7 interior ministers until 31 December 2022.

Here, G7 interior ministers will discuss shared democratic values, the rule of law and human rights. There will also be a focus on the commitment to social justice, equality and inclusive digitalisation.

Germany is pursuing the following work priorities under the so-called “G7 Interior Track”:

  • Combating organised crime, extremism, terrorism and hybrid threats
  • Curbing disinformation
  • Strengthening civic rights as well as promoting economic, social and cultural participation for all
  • Working against polarisation and the curtailment of freedoms of expression, the press and assembly and working towards an inclusive global digital order

In addition to these priorities, the interior ministers will also continue to pursue items from the previous G7 agenda. These include protecting the population from dangers on the internet, strengthening international action against corruption, and ensuring protection against serious and organised crime.
