G7 Meetings of the G7 digital affairs ministers

The Federal Minister of Digital Affairs and Transport, Volker Wissing, will host and lead the work process of the G7 digital ministers until 31 December 2022 in the so-called “Digital and Tech Working Group” and also at expert level.

The Federal Minister of Digital Affairs and Transport, Volker Wissing, will host and lead the work process of the G7 digital ministers until 31 December 2022 in the so-called “Digital and Tech Working Group” and also at expert level.

Here, G7 digital ministers will discuss the future of digitalisation and more favourable legal and regulatory environments for the development and application of new digital technologies.

Germany is pursuing the following work priorities under the so-called “G7 Digital Track”:

  • Secure and reliable cross-border data exchange
  • Counteracting digital inequalities
  • Strengthening security on the internet
  • Responsible state action in cyberspace
  • Facilitating fair competition and improving connectivity

In addition to these priorities, the digital ministers will also continue to pursue items from the previous G7 agenda. These include issues relating to the facilitation of digital trade, digital technical standards, digital competition, data and internet security, and telecommunications.
