G7 establish annual monitoring in the area of gender equality

Gender equality is a fundamental prerequisite for resilient, inclusive democratic societies. Nevertheless, gender inequalities continue to persist in all areas of social and economic life. Closing these gaps is an important goal and priority for all G7 members.

To achieve this goal, the G7 agreed on a new monitoring mechanism at the Summit in Elmau and established a G7 Dashboard on Gender Gaps. The Dashboard includes key indicators across a range of policy areas that are relevant to the progression of gender equality. It will be updated annually by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

With the dashboard, the G7 is implementing a recommendation of the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council and Women7. It provides an important new tool to support the G7's commitment to achieving gender equality and to continuously monitor progress.
