The shared values of democracy, the rule of law and human rights create close bonds between G7 partners. Gender equality plays a central role here. During Germany's G7 Presidency, Chancellor Olaf Scholz therefore convened a Gender Equality Advisory Council (GEAC).

As an independent, high-level advisory body, the Gender Equality Advisory Council (GEAC) develops recommendations on gender equality issues across the entire G7 agenda, bringing together experts from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. The first G7 GEAC was convened in 2018 by the then Canadian G7 Presidency. Since then, this advisory council has also been convened in 2019 under the French G7 Presidency and in 2021 under the British G7 Presidency.

During the German G7 Presidency, the GEAC meets under the chairwomanship of Professor Jutta Allmendinger. During her participation in the G7 Summit in Elmau, she gave an initial overview of the GEAC’s work in 2022. Following the G7 Summit, the GEAC will develop concrete recommendations to the G7.
