Civil society dialogue

Civil7 Civil society dialogue

The Civil7 group (C7) represents the positions of international civil society within the G7. The C7 acts as a platform through which actors and organisations from international civil society can network with each other and enter into dialogue with the G7.

The aim of the C7 is to represent the interests of international civil society.

Tasks and goals of Civil7

The aim of the C7 is to represent the interests of international civil society, especially non-governmental organisations, vis-à-vis the G7. Recommendations for action are developed in international working groups. These are officially presented to the G7 and are reflected in the activities and measures adopted by the G7. In addition, the C7 process will be supported in 2022 by a number of thematically relevant workshops throughout the year.

Coordination of the Civil7

The Chancellery has mandated the following organisations to coordinate the C7:

  • VENRO, Association of German Development and Humanitarian Aid NGOs
  • Environment and Development Forum

In order to support international networking in the C7 and enable strategic positioning of the C7, an international steering committee has also been established for the first time. In addition, interested national and international actors can contribute to the working groups by drafting recommendations and demands to the G7.

Civil7 priorities

The priorities of the C7 chair this year are: climate and environmental justice, economic justice, health, humanitarian aid and conflict, and open societies. The C7 summit took place on 4 and 5 May 2022 in the run-up to the G7 Summit.
