The Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Building, Klara Geywitz, will host and lead the work process of the G7 ministers of sustainable urban development until 31 December 2022.

Here, G7 ministers of sustainable urban development will discuss current issues and challenges in the area of urban development policy.

Germany is pursuing the following work priorities under the so-called “G7 Urban Development Track”:

  • International cooperation in the field of climate, environment, health and urban development policy
  • Strengthening inclusive and sustainable urban planning in line with Agenda 2030
  • Liveable cities as a contribution to climate and environmental protection
  • Promoting public welfare-oriented policies at the local level

In addition to these priorities, the ministers of sustainable urban development will continue to pursue items from the previous G7 agenda. These include poverty reduction and social inclusion in cities, urban biodiversity measures and spatial planning issues.
